Our Mission

Heath’s P.A.L.S. is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to raise awareness about PTSD and provide support to veterans and their families navigating the challenges of a loss.

We are dedicated to nurturing empathy and understanding for individuals impacted by PTSD, as well as providing valuable support to military children who have lost a parent by offering scholarships and educational assistance. Our mission is to bridge the funding gap for these children and offer them the necessary resources during challenging times.

Heath’s P.A.L.S. not only understands the intricacies of PTSD, but also the emotional hardship that occurs while walking such a challenging road. Our goal is to support veterans’ families in a way that serves as a source of hope and encouragement during their journey.

Why Heath’s PALS

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 8 million adults in the United States suffer from PTSD during a given year. Research suggests that PTSD not only affects the individual directly experiencing trauma, but also has significant ripple effects on their families, including children and spouses.

At Heath’s P.A.L.S., we are driven by the belief that by providing scholarships to children of veterans who have passed, we not only pay tribute to their memory but also instill a profound sense of achievement in these young scholars. They carry forward the legacy of their loved ones through their educational triumphs, embodying resilience and hope for the future.

Meet Heath

Justin Heath Owens, born on June 21, left an incredible mark in his brief 33 years on this earth. He was not only a dedicated father but also a beloved son, brother, and friend. Heath’s service to our nation in the US Army, including deployment to Afghanistan, reflects his unwavering commitment to duty and sacrifice. Tragically, his return to civilian life was marked by PTSD, a silent struggle that reflects the challenges faced by many veterans. Heath’s legacy shines brightly through the love he shared with his cherished daughter, who will forever remember him as the true hero he was. Known for his kindness and gentle spirit, the void left by his absence is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Justin Heath Owens will be dearly missed, and his memory cherished for eternity.

Our Why

Heath’s P.A.L.S is dedicated to providing unwavering support and valuable resources for children who have experienced the loss of a significant individual, much like Heath—a devoted Army veteran who proudly served in Afghanistan. Our nonprofit understands the profound impact that post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can have on those who courageously served their country and their families.

Heath bravely navigated the challenges of PTSD, highlighting the urgent need for support systems for families facing similar struggles. At Heath’s P.A.L.S, we are committed to recognizing and addressing the unique difficulties associated with military service. Our goal is to create a nurturing space that acknowledges these challenges and works towards offering a lifeline to bereaved children and families.
